About Us

“Leading The Way For Tomorrow’s Leaders”

Our Mission:

To provide young girls with the opportunity to dream, grow, and develop into positive, mature, young ladies with high morals and life goals through education, building self-confidence and establishing a sense of empowerment, resulting in their becoming effective change agents in their own lives and the lives of others.

Compassion, Hope, and Faith are the building blocks upon which our programs and services to young girls are built; and it is our belief in the value of holistic care that in order for change to occur in the lives of people, we must strive to meet the unique needs of the whole person.

Organization History

In 2003, Teens In Perspective, Inc. or T.I.P. began as a vision to impact the lives of young girls from underprivileged communities where multiple and various barriers such as poverty, drugs and violence, past hurts/ abuse, strained family relationships, low self-esteem, and lack of life skills hindered their growth and limited their opportunities. It occurred that these are the female adolescents who frequently get “stuck” or who do not appropriately connect with society, often lacking value and direction, indulging in risky behaviors, and giving up on their dreams of going to college, being business owners, educators, authors, and millionaires. These are the young girls who considered college but thought ‘only rich kids go to college,’ or foreseen becoming a teen mom, selling drugs or their bodies for quick cash or popularity, gang membership and violence as “their only options in life,” regularly producing a false sense of accomplishment and continuing the cycle of poverty.

In the Fall 2004, T.I.P. was incorporated as a Delaware Corporation. The organization made its debut in October 2005 as a leadership development program, and became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in March 2006. We piloted the program for the first two to three years with 7-10 teen girls and 4 volunteer staff. Our goal is to have a membership enrollment of 20 girls in New Castle with 8-10 volunteer staff. Teens In Perspective has served over 350 teens through its program and community outreach events since its unveiling five years ago.
